LNVPN, a group in Berlin, has launched a pay-as-you-go service that leverages Bitcoin Lightning for payments. This new model allows users to access VPN services on-demand, bypassing the traditional monthly subscription fees that are typically around $5.
LNVPN offers connections to servers in various countries, charging 10 cents per hour, payable via Bitcoin Lightning. I have not tested this service.
The process is straightforward: users select their desired server location and connection duration on LNVPN’s platform. After generating WireGuard VPN keys directly in their browser, they can complete the transaction using Bitcoin Lightning wallets such as Phoenix or BlueWallet. Upon payment, users receive a configuration file to set up their VPN on any device with the WireGuard app.
This service is particularly appealing to those who require occasional VPN use, offering flexibility and privacy without the commitment of a monthly fee.
