Proton Launches Lumo: A Private and Encrypted AI Assistant

Proton has launched Lumo, a new AI Assistant where every conversation is private. Here are the main features:

  • Zero-access encryption
  • No-logs policy
  • Open-source and auditable

To try it out:

  • Go to lumo.proton.me—no Proton login needed.
  • Log in for encrypted history on web or mobile.

Here are the details of the service:

Ghost Mode

Start a chat in Ghost Mode, and once you close it, the conversation’s gone for good—no record, not even on Proton’s servers. Ordinary chats are still encrypted, but this is true “nothing saved” mode.

Zero-Access Encryption

If you log into Proton, the system saves your chat history with zero-access encryption. Only you can read it; not even Proton staff can. It is encryption that secures data from the sender to the recipient.

Lumo can analyze in PDFs, DOCXs, and more. Files aren’t saved or reused for training.

No Data for Training

Unlike almost every other big AI, Lumo never uses your chats to train future models.

Paid Tier: Lumo Plus

There’s also a paid tier of Lumo, which gives you:

  • Unlimited chats
  • Larger/multiple file uploads
  • Extended chat history
  • Save more favorites

The price is $13/month or $120/year.

For Visionary or Lifetime Proton users, Lumo Plus is included automatically. Other Proton users can add Lumo Plus to their existing plans.
