New Privacy Tools I’m Testing

I’m currently testing these privacy-friendly tools in the GreyCoder lab:

Master Password

Master Password is an new password manager that works offline and doesn’t require any syncing. Instead, the open-source app generates passwords on demand. The company says:

Master Password uses your name, the site and your master password to generate a password for a website. It works even on a brand-new iPhone without restoring any backups or Internet access.

This looks interesting. One downside is that it does not yet feature browser integration.

Master Password is available for 📲 iOS, 🖥 macOS, 📲 Android, 🖥 Desktop, and ⌨ Console.

Ethereum is a decentralized computing platform. It uses Bitcoin’s blockchain technology to create a protocol for “smart contracts”. It’s quite an ambitious idea — the Ethereum home page has more information.

Ethereum also provides a cryptocurrency token called “ether”, which can be transferred between participants and is used to compensate participant nodes for computations performed.

Trezor Wallet Updated

The Trezor Wallet has been updated to support these cryptocurrencies: DASHZcash (T addresses only) and Ethereum (through MyEtherWallet). More details can be found on Trezor’s blog post.
