Anyway, I don’t see the big attraction of such a dated router, when DD-WRT supports so many newer and faster ones, such as the budget TP-Link TL-WR1043ND. And I believe VPN clients require a relatively fast processor to work well, so the WRT54G seems a positively bad choice in this instance.

However, I think the info isn’t entirely accurate. The v5 and later WRT54G routers do not have enough flash to support the full version of DD-WRT, and when I flashed the available version onto my WRT54G it didn’t have the VPN option.

I’ll most likely be checking out the ASUS.
